On June 25th, in Anqing City, Anhui Province, a seminar was held focusing on Anqing's strategy to create an innovative textile and apparel industry base and investment promotion project. The symposium was jointly organized by the China National Textile and Apparel Council and the People's Government of Anqing City.

Wang Tiankai, president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, Wei Xiaoming, mayor of Anqing City, and more than 40 entrepreneurs with investment intentions were invited to attend the meeting.

Wang Tiankai introduced the status quo and trends of China's textile and garment industry development, as well as the ways and strategies for industrial restructuring. He pointed out that the huge potential for domestic demand, the integrity of the industrial chain and full-scale competition to create the survival of the fittest mechanism and a large number of outstanding companies and entrepreneurs are the advantages of China's textile industry. At the same time, there are pressures in the industry such as system, cost, environment, and homogenous over-competition. Facing this situation, he proposed that the overall development of Anqing Textile and Apparel should integrate the future development trend of the industry and integrate the future economic development of Anqing City. Relying on backbone enterprises, relying on a well-developed industrial park, attract influential enterprises from the east to the park and promote the development of the textile industry in Anqing.

Wei Xiaoming, Mayor of Anqing City, delivered a speech on behalf of the municipal party committee and the municipal government. Anqing textile industry cluster has distinctive characteristics and enjoys a good reputation. The number of industrial clusters named by China National Textile and Apparel Industry Association accounts for more than half of Anhui Province. Among them, Anhui Huamao Group has won the title of “China's finest cotton textile production base” in the country; Wangjiang County and Susong County have been named “China's Emerging Textile Industry Base” and Yuexi County is “the Famous City of Chinese Handmade Textiles”. In 2012, Anqing Textile and Garment Industry owned 221 companies, achieving a total industrial output value of 36.3 billion yuan, and the number of scale enterprises ranked first among the 16 cities in the province. At the same time, Anqing has high quality raw material resources and abundant human resources. Anqing is the national high-quality cotton production base determined by the Ministry of Agriculture. The annual cotton planting area is about 1.1 million mu and the output is about 100,000 tons, accounting for more than one fourth of the cotton production in Anhui Province. Anqing Petrochemical has a production capacity of 130,000 tons/year of acrylonitrile and 70,000 tons/year of acrylic fiber; Wangjiang Shumeitex Chemical Fiber has a production capacity of 120,000 tons/year of viscose staple fiber.

Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, Anqing City has established a footing in the existing industry base and actively undertakes industrial transfer. Anhui Huamao International Textile Industry City (hereinafter referred to as “Industrial City”) is located in Lingang Development Zone of Anqing, with a planned area of ​​about 5 square kilometers, and a planned land area of ​​more than 1.9 million square meters. Huamao International Textile Industry City will focus on the vision of “Science & Technology Huamao, International Huamao, and 100-year Huamao” and will strive to create a high-end fabric design R&D and processing base with advanced international standards. The functional areas planned for the first phase of Industrial City mainly include the Innovation Research Center, International Zone, Innovation and Innovation Park, Dyeing and Finishing Area, Yarn-dyed Area, Knitting Area, Industrial Area, Clothing Area and Spinning Area.

Wang Tiankai acknowledged the planning of Huamao International Textile Industry City and affirmed the achievements of Industrial City. He said that the development of the Industrial City is stable and has a high orientation.
