Alexandria, Egypt sells 526 tons of cotton for the week ending Jan. 8.

According to information from Cairo on January 9, an official of the Egyptian Alexandria Cotton Exporters Association (Alcotexa) stated that as of the week of January 8, the Association had fulfilled 526 tons of export contracts for all grades of cotton.

The official said that the cotton exported by the association includes 334 tons of Giza88 cotton and 192 tons of Giza86 cotton.

Officials also stated that last week’s transactions resulted in the association’s cotton exports reaching 90,396 tons in 2010-11, with export value of 333.804 billion US dollars. 2010-11 starts in September.

In the same period of 2010, Alcotexa exported 51,155 tons of cotton, and its exports amounted to US$1.132 billion.
