Fiber content identification will be implemented from May 1

A national standard GB/T 29862-2013 "Identification of Textile Fiber Content" that is of significance to the textile field will be implemented starting May 1, 2014. According to relevant regulations, after the implementation of national standards, the textile industry standard FZ/T01053-2007 "Identification of Textile Fiber Content" shall be repealed.

It is understood that this national standard stipulates requirements for labeling requirements, labeling principles, indication methods, allowable deviations, and label conformity determination of textile fibers. All textiles sold in China must have their fiber content labelled to meet the requirements of the standard.

The standard of textile fiber content is an important standard in the textile field. According to the national test results, the number of unqualified items in the textile labeling project and the fiber content accounted for about 70% of all textile nonconforming products. The vast majority of them were unqualified because of the non-standard fiber content identification. Therefore, the implementation of this standard will have a crucial role in the entire textile and apparel industry in our city.
