City Fashion Show Celebrates Four Designers' Unique Styles On January 18, 2011, to reinforce Hong Kong’s status as Asia's leading fashion hub, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) organized a spectacular fashion show titled “Hong Kong. Gorgeous Show†during the first day of the Autumn/Winter Hong Kong Fashion Week. This event featured four globally recognized designers—Keita Maruyama from Japan, Doii Lee from South Korea, Alex Wang from Beijing, and Barney Cheng from Hong Kong—each presenting their latest collections on the runway. Top models from Hong Kong, mainland China, Japan, and South Korea graced the runway, showcasing the works of the four designers. The event featured notable names such as Hong Kong’s Chen Bi-tao and Xie Ting-ting, China’s Li Danni, Japan’s Fu Yong Ai and Yamada Yoshinori, and South Korea’s Song Eun Ji and Lim Ji Ae. Chen Fala also made a special appearance as the “Hong Kong. Gorgeous Show Star,†closing the show with a stunning performance of Barney Cheng’s final look. Each of the participating designers has built a strong following around the world, yet they each bring a distinct and personal touch to their work. Keita Maruyama, known for his elegant and romantic designs, skillfully blends modern techniques with traditional Japanese motifs. Doii Lee, who previously worked with renowned brands like John Galliano and Kenzo, is celebrated for her innovative prints and creative concepts. Alex Wang from Beijing brings a modern, luxurious aesthetic, often incorporating intricate beading and embroidery. Barney Cheng, one of Hong Kong’s most respected designers, masterfully combines simplicity with elegance, offering pieces that feel both refined and approachable. The show drew a star-studded audience and was not only a highlight of the Hong Kong Fashion Festival but also a must-see event for fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
