According to the latest data from the Yiwu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, from January to September this year, a total of 26,913 batches of textiles and garments were exported from Yiwu, with a combined value reaching $94.2189 million. This represents a significant year-on-year growth of 29.57% in volume and 32.66% in value, marking a successful double-digit increase in both export quantity and worth.

Facing evolving domestic and international market conditions, textile manufacturers in Yiwu have increasingly recognized that low-end products are no longer as competitive as they once were. As a result, many companies are now focusing on designing and producing high-end, premium-quality goods. They are striving to enhance product quality and add more value to their exports. In response, the Yiwu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has implemented various initiatives to support businesses in improving their product standards and management practices.

The bureau has intensified its inspections on safety, hygiene, and anti-counterfeiting measures for textiles and clothing. It also conducts stricter checks on internal physical and chemical properties, as well as labels regarding origin, composition, and care instructions. Companies are required to follow national standards for sampling and inspection during import and export processes. These efforts help align products with international market demands and boost their overall value.

In addition, the bureau actively monitors and studies foreign technical trade regulations, enabling enterprises to quickly adapt to new requirements. Through events like “Technical Regulations for Developing Countries,” businesses gain direct insights into export technical standards and consumer preferences, which enhances their ability to overcome green trade barriers abroad.

To further improve quality awareness, the bureau has introduced enterprise classification management, supporting top-tier and second-tier companies in transitioning from micro-level inspections to macro-supervision. This shift encourages better quality consciousness and integrity among local manufacturers.

Moreover, the bureau regularly organizes training sessions on domestic and international textile and garment standards. This helps enterprises meet new technical requirements in production, elevate their quality management systems, and ultimately drive a transformation from “quantity” to “quality” in their export strategies.
